Top Ten Tuesday | Thankful Freebie

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

The prompt this week is “Thankful Freebie,” so I decided to talk about the authors I am thankful for! These authors have inspired me with their words and taught me life lessons. So I just wanted to use this day to say thank you to them for that.

Cassandra Clare

There is just something about Clare that I have always loved. I love how she tells the same story but with different characters. Her characters are always strong-willed and tough, which taught me that I could be strong too. But also taught me, that your family isn’t always blood.  And for a girl who felt lost and alone, that was an important lesson.

 J.K. Rowling

The author who shaped me as a child. It sounds silly but it’s true. I had a rough childhood and her words really helped me see that there was light at the end of the tunnel. The many quotes really gave me hope as a kid.

Jay Kristoff

This man right here can make me cry with his writing. For that alone, he deserves to be on this list. His stories and characters make me feel like I too can be a badass and can do anything.

Brandon Sanderson

This one is a new one, I only discovered his books this year as most of you know, but it has been one of the best journeys of my life. His words and the way he writes just leaves me in awe. I am constantly flabbergasted at how talented he is.

There aren’t many authors on this list but these are my top 4 authors who have made me really appreciate their work. I don’t think I would be the person I am today without any of these authors. It sounds a bit silly, doesn’t it? But it’s true.

  1. I completely understand what you mean about JK Rowling. Her books stimulated my love of reading when I was younger, and even now when I’m in a reading slump (or an emotional one) I go back to them.
